Governor's Update - August 2022
Aug 15, 2022
Hello Rotarians, it is August already and I find it hard to believe. Has it been hot enough for you? Wow 112 degrees Fahrenheit in Wenatchee the last weekend of July that is just too hot. Stay cool and be safe.
My wife Denise and I were able to visit 21 of our 57 Rotary Clubs, quite the whirlwind start for the Rotary year of “Imagine Rotary” and Jennifer Jones’s call of “Dream big and take Action”! I am incredibly happy to report that all the clubs we have visited are doing amazing work in their communities and around the world. The projects range from glass recycling in Sun Peaks to restoring a historic Chinese cemetery in Ashcroft, Brain Bikes, and of course great support for the local food banks everywhere we went. I would be remiss if I did not mention the many playgrounds, skate parks and the ever-popular Splash Parks, the perfect place to spend a sizzling summer day. If you do not have one yet consider creating one in your community, there are plenty of willing and experienced Rotarians in our district who can help and point you in the right direction. “Dream big and take Action”!
Since the Haiti Hanwash program is a long-term goal with lots of work yet to be done there is still time for you to get involved with this district wide international project for which we received a Global Grant of more than $450,000 dollars. If you are interested, please contact PDG Sherry Chamberlain at sherry@adobie.com. Amazing Hospitality was enjoyed by all, thank you Rotarians for hosting us in such an amazing and welcoming way!
Since it is summer, and we are all remarkably busy and some are on vacation somewhere fun I will keep this short. Although one last word, did you know that our Rotary Zone 28/32 is having an awesome event in early September? It is a Cruise out of New York to Bermuda the title is “Life below Water” complete with great speakers on board and a service project to Restore Mangroves once we get to port. Look for the Zone website at: Home Page Zones 28&32-Club Runner. Hope to see you there. Have a great summer and all the best.
Yours in Rotary
Karl and Denise
