Governor's Update - December 2022
Dec 29, 2022
Hello Rotarians, it is December and soon all of us will celebrate Christmas, it is a wonderful time of year indeed. In the month of November, we remember and give thanks. In December we hope for Peace on earth and celebrate the season. I have included a couple of pictures of the “Field of Crosses” organized by the Rotary Club of Kelowna along with other organizations in the community, wow what an amazing project to remind all of us to “Never Forget,” well done RC Kelowna and thank you for sharing this with all of us.
I also included a picture here of RI President Jennifer Jones and I at a Rotary Foundation Gala in Seattle. It shows the limited addition print “Imagine ones Dream” that she gave to all the incoming District Governors to be used as a fund-raising tool for Polio Plus and or the Rotary foundation. This copy brought in $12000 and with the Gates foundation 2 to 1 match turned into $ 36000, what an amazing event! You might remember that I showed all of you during my club visit the copy of the print that I received. It will be auctioned off at our District Conference May 18 to May 21, 2023, so mark your calendars and I hope that many of you will join us for a fun and inspiring event in “Bavarian Leavenworth." For more information and to pre-register go to: www.rotary5060.org.
As we all plan our year-end giving, let us not forget the Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus, the need around the world is indeed great and we must do what we can to help. Thank you for all you do.
Frohe Weihnachten- Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!
Until next month and do not forget “Dream big and take Action!"
Yours in Rotary,
Karl and Denise
