Community Service: Sushi to Haircuts

There is no shortage of creativity in this community service project by the Rotary Club of Chelan. Students from Manson High School "Buzz on Biz" class in Washington State USA recently presented their creative business plans to the Club. Seven teams of students each designed a business that could work in their community. In the process they learned about teamwork, presentation skills, and what is needed for a successful business.

The students presented their plans and took questions from a panel in a "Shark Tank" format. Rotarians reviewed each team based on how effective they were. What a unique community service project!

The teams made plans for A & Z's Mobile Barbershop; Rolling Waves Thai and Sushi; Wellness by the Water; Deep Water Gaming and Lounge; Leons FC; Chelan Battleground; and A & E's Sweet's n' Treats.

The top three teams won cash prizes.

• 1st place: Wellness by the Water- students Phinley, Teagan and Rylee
• 2nd place: A & Z's Mobile Barbershop- students Zahyr and Angel
• 3rd place: Rolling Waves Thai and Sushi- students Kaiden, Finn and Jesus

The award for best display board went to A & Z's Mobile Barbershop. Congratulations to all students on a job well done!
