Third Pollinator Garden in Kamloops BC
May 22, 2023
A team from the Rotary Club of the Rivers and Kamloops West plus a Rotaractor prepared the ground recently for a third pollinator garden at the BC Wildlife Park in Kamloops BC. The pollinator gardens are a great source of food for the bees and offers an education centre for youth that attend on school trips.
The planting will begin on Saturday June 3rd to make this area at the park even larger for pollinators to find food. The gardens have been building since the Rotary District conference of May 2019. Many Rotarians from D5060 and D5040 helped in starting the gardens along with youth exchange and Rotaract members.
Every year and twice a year, Rotarians return to maintain the site and add plants. Recently the Rotary Club of the Rivers managed to secure a small grant from the City to build the third garden area. The Rivers and Kamloops West club members along with Rotaract will plant and maintain the new gardens.
